When Coating Performance and Speed Both Matter

Industrial coating projects don't always have the luxury of unlimited time.

When you're working on critical infrastructure, every additional day can affect productivity, access and project costs.

For the Metaldeza hydraulic central power pipe project in Spain, PPG's SIGMAFAST 278 was selected as a protective coating solution designed to combine corrosion protection with rapid drying.

The Challenge

The project required a coating system that could provide effective protection while helping the application process move quickly.

For large industrial steelwork and infrastructure, long drying and overcoating times can create delays and make it harder to keep projects moving efficiently.

The Solution

PPG SIGMAFAST 278 was selected for the project.

The coating uses phenalkamine technology and is designed to provide fast drying characteristics alongside protective performance.

According to PPG, the coating can be touch-dry in approximately one hour and ready for overcoating after around two hours under suitable conditions.

The ability to move through the coating process quickly was an important advantage for the project.

The Result

The SIGMAFAST 278 system provided the required protective performance while supporting a more efficient application process.

For industrial coating projects where time is a major consideration, fast-drying technology can help reduce turnaround times and improve productivity.

Sometimes, the best coating system isn't just the one that protects your asset—it's the one that helps you get the job done efficiently.
