Project overview

The redevelopment of Simonds Stadium required long-term protection for the stadium's steelwork while maintaining the appearance of the completed structure.

PPG was challenged to provide a protective coating system with improved colour and gloss retention.

The challenge

Stadium infrastructure is exposed to weather, regular use and environmental conditions over long periods.

The coating system therefore needed to provide corrosion protection while helping the finished steel retain its appearance.

The coating solution

PPG supplied a PSX epoxy polysiloxane system.

The system was selected for its abrasion resistance and its ability to reduce the accumulation of dirt and mildew, alongside the required protective performance.

The result

The system provided the required long-term corrosion protection while helping the stadium maintain its colour, gloss and appearance.
