Anti-Carbonation Coatings

Carbonation of reinforced concrete and masonry is almost impossible to avoid and begins as soon as the substrate is exposed to the elements. The concrete reacts with the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and leads to a loss of alkalinity and corrosion of the reinforced steel. Our anti-carbonation coatings help to combat this and allow your buildings to remain visually attractive whilst avoiding costly repair and maintenance work down the line.

Monodex Clear is a clear, waterborne anti-carbonation coating with high diffusion resistance to carbon dioxide diffusion.

• Water based, virtually odourless with minimal VOC content.
• Outstanding protection against the effects of carbonation, chloride ions and aggresive chemicals.
• Cures to a clear, satin-gloss finish and retains the original appearance and texture of the substrate.
• Self-priming and rapid drying, apply two coats in one day!
• Combats the growth of mould, mildew and lichens.
• Water-repellent finish that prevents water ingress – whilst still allowing damp substrates to breathe and dry out without blistering.
• Excellent dirt and UV resistance
• Accelerated weathering tests to EN 1062-11 show no discernible deterioriation after 2500 hours, equating to approximately 10 years’ natural exposure.
• Elastomeric, able to bridge hairline cracks without chipping or flaking.
• Single pack, ready to use, no complex mixing.

Monodex Metallic is a high performance, elastomeric, water-based anti-carbonation coating with a metallic finish.

• Sparkling, reflective finish – ideal for architectural new build or refurbishment.
• Monodex Metallic top coat ensures a lustrous metallic finish.

• Suitable for both external and internal use.
• Low hazard, water based with no flash point. Clean equipment easily with water.
• Fast drying, year round use and two coat applications in one day.
• Allows damp substrates to breathe and dry out without blistering
• Rapid application by brush, roller or airless spray.
• Can be applied using Graco Pumps
• A range of special metallic colours can be created.

• Inhibits the growth of mould, mildew and lichens.
• Advanced cross-linking micropolymer resin system forms a durable coating with excellent adhesion.
• Fast drying – year round use and two coat applications on the same dady.
• Low hazard, water based with no flash point. Clean equipment easily with water.
• Allows damp substrates to breathe and dry out without blistering.
• High colour pigment concentration obliterates any strong underlying colours and produces an attractive matt finish.
• Easily reinforced locally over cracks and joints, or overall to effectively seal crazed surfaces.
